This elegant master cup is fully handcrafted from premium Yixing raw ore Crab-Shell Green (Xie Ke Qing) zisha clay, a rare, refined purple clay favored by serious zisha collectors.
The surface features exquisite hand engraving of Chang'e, the Moon Goddess, and her Jade Rabbit, one of the most romantic and well-known myths of ancient China. The legend tells of Chang'e residing in the Moon Palace with her jade rabbit, a timeless symbol of grace, serenity, beauty and good wishes. The delicate line carving captures her gentle demeanour, paired with Chinese calligraphy, creating a poetic oriental artistic atmosphere for your tea table.
Crab-shell green clay shows a subtle muted grey-green tone after firing. Thanks to the unique double-pore breathable structure of genuine zisha, it softly interacts with your tea, helping mellow the tea liquor and preserve its rich aroma. With long-term brewing and proper care, the cup will slowly develop a warm, glossy natural patina, making each cup’s finish one-of-a-kind to its owner.
Boasting a generous 200cc capacity, this tapered cup shape sits comfortably in your palm. It is ideal for solo kung fu tea tasting, perfect for pu-erh, aged oolong, old white tea and other aged teas.
Each piece is entirely hand-carved by skilled artisans. Minor subtle variations in engraving are natural hallmarks of authentic handmade craft. It is excellent for daily tea enjoyment, table display, collection, or as a thoughtful cultural gift for tea lovers and admirers of Chinese mythology.
The surface features exquisite hand engraving of Chang'e, the Moon Goddess, and her Jade Rabbit, the iconic figures behind China’s Mid-Autumn Festival legend.
Thousands of years ago, Chang’e’s husband Hou Yi shot down nine extra suns to save the world and received an elixir of immortality. To keep the magic potion from falling into the wrong hands, Chang’e chose to drink it herself. She floated gently up to the moon and settled forever in the Moon Palace. Her loyal Jade Rabbit stayed with her, pounding herbal elixir day after day under the moonlight.
Every year when the full moon rises brightest in autumn, people look up at the moon, think of Chang’e, gather with family, share mooncakes and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival — a festival for reunion, longing, peace and gratitude.
This timeless tale has been passed down generation after generation, and now it is carved onto this zisha cup, carrying the soft blessing of reunion and gentle moonlight.
